カード不正利用防止のチェックは下記のような感じでした。

backcountry.comにオーダーを入れると、下記のような内容のメッセージがメールに送られてくる。

If you use any type of international credit card, or if we are having trouble verifying your billing information, we will conduct what’s known as a Small Charge Verification.

What we do:
・We charge your credit card an amount greater than $0, but less than $3.00 USD.
・Contact you via phone or email informing you that we have assessed the small charge.

What you do:
・Contact the bank associated with that credit card to learn the exact amount of the small charge, it will show up as a charge by Backcountry.com. It does not have to be in US dollars, we can perform the conversion.
・ Call us at (800) 409-4502 to confirm the charge and finish processing your order. You can also send an email via our Service Request page. Please include the following in your message: your name, order number, and small charge amount included in the body of the email.

ここがちょっと面倒なんですが、英文を簡単に要約すると。。。

「支払をクレジットカード決済にした場合、＄０以上、＄３以下のカード請求を一旦入れます。
　あなたは、クレジットカード会社に連絡して、その＄の金額を聞いてください。
　聞いた＄の金額を、Backcountry.comに連絡してください。」

と言っている。

なぜそんな面倒なことをするのか言うと、、、

Why we do it:
This process is the easiest way to confirm that you have the credit card in your hands, know your account number and bank information, and are in good standing with your bank. Once we have confirmed your card, you won’t be asked to go through this process to place future orders.

だそうで、

「クレジットカード会社に請求金額を聞きだせるのは本人だけだから、
　金額を聞き出せればクレジットカードは間違いなく本人のもので、
　信頼できるカードか否かを確認できる簡単で最良の方法です」

な感じ、で、

「一旦確認できれば、その後のオーダーにこの確認は必要ありません」

そりゃそうだ！

毎回カード会社に問い合わせする必要があるなら、ここでは絶対買わないしぃ～(笑)

と言うことで、このとおり実行！！！

カード会社に早速電話したところ、「日本円は分かるんですけどね～ＵＳ＄の請求額が見えません」との回答

事情を説明したところ、「ちょっと別な端末で調べるのでお時間ください」

で、待つこと１５分、「分かりました」

メールが届いた当日に問い合わせしたんですが、案外早く請求が来るもんなんですね～。

聞いたＵＳ＄をメール本文に記載されているＵＲＬにアクセスし、入力して送信。

確か「承認されました、これから発送手続きに入ります」のようなメッセージが出ました。

ちょっと面倒ですが、ショップ側からすると当然の確認照合かもしれませんね、世の中カード犯罪が多いですし・・・
